SMS notification policy

What this is
8Count Backstage is a booking service used by individual dance studios. Each studio’s data is kept separate; this policy covers the transactional SMS messages we send from our shared sending number to parents on behalf of those studios.
Messages you may receive
We send only three kinds of message, all transactional:
- Booking link when your studio is ready for you to schedule a private lesson time slot.
- Reminder about two hours before that link expires, if you haven't used it yet.
- Confirmation with the teacher, room, and time once you book.
Approximately 1–6 transactional messages per booking season. We never send marketing.
How we collect opt-in
SMS opt-in is always a separate, standalone choice — it is never bundled with enrollment, terms of service, privacy policy, or any other agreement.
When a parent receives a booking-link invitation, they can open a dedicated SMS preferences page at /invitations/[token]/sms-consent. That page does only one thing: it shows the disclosure below and asks the parent to tick a single checkbox affirming they agree to receive transactional SMS. No booking, payment, or other action can be taken from that page.
The exact disclosure shown to the parent at the moment of opt-in is:
☐ Yes, I agree to receive transactional SMS from {studio name} via 8Count Backstage at the phone number on file.
Messages are limited to: a booking link when your studio is ready for you to schedule a private lesson time slot; a reminder about two hours before that link expires; and a confirmation with the teacher, room, and time once you book.

We save the disclosure version you saw, the date and time you agreed, and how you opted in (either through the in-app consent page yourself, or through a studio admin acting on your behalf) on each family's record. Every change is logged with full before-and-after detail. We will not send SMS to any phone number that isn't currently opted in.
Studio-admin opt-in
If a parent has already given the studio written SMS consent via the studio's own paperwork, a studio admin may record that opt-in on the family's behalf in the admin UI. This is recorded with method = "studio_admin" on the family row and in the audit log, separately from parent-driven opt-ins. The studio is responsible for retaining its underlying signed consent document.
Opt-out
Reply STOP to any message to opt out of all SMS from 8Count Backstage. You will receive a single confirmation message and then no further texts. You can also opt out at any time from the same SMS preferences page, or by contacting your studio's administrator. Opt-outs are stamped with sms_opt_out_at and recorded in the audit log.

Privacy
